Enfield School In the Press
Kicking Off
Eight-year-old Giorgio Ryan has just become the youngest boy in the country to be awarded a black belt at Tae Kwon-do.
The Lavender Primary School pupil, in Enfield, simply excels at the martial art and his black belt confirms that fact.
This year, Giorgio has won a bronze medal in the under 15 class at the Welsh Championships, took a bronze in the Midlands Championship, a silver in the Scottish national event and is the current South East boys’ champion.
At the end of this month, Giorgio steps into the international arena when he competes in the World Championships at Birmingham.
Dedicated training in Tae Kwon-do, since the age of five, has seen him mature into an accomplished player. He is a member of the Enfield School of Tae Kwon-do at Grange Park School, Winchmore Hill, where he is a pupil of third dan instructor Richard Newcombe, who travels to Enfield three times a week from his home in Birmingham to teach at classes.
